Mercury ART DECO by rodolforever Mercury ART DECO by rodolforever
A prankster and inventive genius from birth, Hermes (or MERCURY for the romans) was the messenger of the gods and guide of dead souls to the Underworld. He aided the heroes Odysseus and Perseus in their quests.

Mercury`s symbol of office as divine messenger was his staff, or caduceus. This was originally a willow wand with entwined ribbons, traditional badge of the herald. But the ribbons were eventually depicted as snakes. To support this mythologically, a story evolved that Hermes used the caduceus to separate two fighting snakes which forthwith twined themselves together in peace.

Reminds me very much of the designs on the Union Terminal over in Cincinnati, Ohio.

This should be on the wall of every art deco diner in New York, and they should pay you top dollar for the right!

I love it!!! Hermes is my second-favorite god, so I'm really glad you did him!

The finish on him is so cool--like a living statue or hood ornament! Very appropriate, since his image was used by various car companies. It nails all of his aspects perfectly! Fantastic work, sir!
